2 July 2017
From 2 -7 July, the Bunga Barrabugu 2017 Winter Program brings Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Year 12 high school students to the University for a week of academic preparation leading up to their Year 12 trial and final exams.
During the day, students will be working on subject-based exam preparation and visiting University Faculties to undertake hands-on workshops with academic staff. They will receive guidance on subject selection and how to best prepare for the academic road ahead. Indigenous staff from the University will also discuss pathways to University and will assist in planning scholarships and provide information on support services, accommodation and finances. During the evenings, they can take part in some extra-curricular activities. In the past students relaxed and reflected to counter balance the days of study. They learned about mindfulness and ate ‘smores’ by a campfire.
