International House 50th Anniversary Art & History Exhibition

7 July 2017 - Every day, until 21st Jul 2017

International House, The University of Sydney, will celebrate 50 years of international understanding and friendship in 2017. A series of major events will mark the special occasion, giving alumni from all over the world the opportunity to reunite in the spirit of collegiality and cultural diversity, which are the hallmarks of the International House experience.

The Art and History Exhibition will feature the public unveiling of a specially commissioned work by Australian Aboriginal artist Bronwyn Bancroft. The exhibition will also celebrate the artistic talents of notable artists from our alumni community, featuring masterful works by Lyn Woodger Grant (‘71-‘72), Betty Nance Smith (‘79), Mika Igarashi (‘00-‘02) and Adam Ridgeway (’07-’09). This mixed-media exhibition will include historical articles, books, photos and videos from the past 50 years of the House’s history. Join alumni, current residents and friends of the House for the official opening of this two-week exhibition on Friday 7 July.

‘In a world where people are being displaced from their homes, I want to create something that is emblematic of being safe and secure in a modern society’ (Bronwyn Bancroft).
