"From Western Asia to the Western Plains: a life in archaeology."
Join us for an evening with Dr Jodie Benton (BA (Hons) ’89 PhD ’06), archaeologist and Director of OzArk Environment & Heritage. Jodie grew up in Sydney, gaining a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Sydney and later working as an Associate Lecturer. She spent a decade excavating sites in Jordan and the United Arab Emirates, before completing her PhD on Late Bronze Age burial practices of the Oman Peninsula.
Since arriving in Dubbo in 2002, Jodie’s business has allowed her to survey a wide range of heritage sites to conduct environmental impact assessments. Jodie will discuss her experiences in Western Asia, her knowledge of archaeology in NSW – and how country life has won her over.
